Imagine this scene: the temple, finally complete, gleaming with beauty and purpose, finally ready to receive the arc of the covenant of God. Solomon gathers all Israel — priests, Levites, trumpeters, singers — every heart and voice united in one mission: to honor the Lord. As they lift their voices in harmony and sing, “For He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever,” something extraordinary happens. The very presence of God descends like a cloud, thick with His glory, so overwhelming that the priests cannot even stand to minister. Human activity ceases; divine majesty takes over.
Now pause and ask yourself — what if that happened in one of our worship assemblies today? What if, in the middle of our songs, the glory of God filled the room so powerfully that everything else had to stop? No more plans, no more programs, no sermon — just awe. Just God.
Too often, we come to worship out of routine. We sing familiar songs, follow our order of service, and yet forget Who we are standing before. But when worship in the heart of believers becomes more about encountering God than executing a program, His glory still falls.
Christians today — it’s time to seek the very presence of God in our worship. To bring more than our voices — to bring our hearts. To lift our songs not because we should, but because He is worthy. To expect His glory — not as a concept, but as a reality.
What would happen if God once again “stopped the service”? What if we were so overcome by His presence that all we could do was stand in awe? That’s the kind of worship God deserves — and still delights in. It would be amazing if it happened in my entire congregation but if it doesn’t, it can still happen in me.
