What If Your Weakness Is Exactly What God Wants?

Jeremiah 1:6-8 – “Then I said, ‘Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.’ But the Lord said to me, ‘Do not say “I am only a youth.” For to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord.’”

In the previous verse God informed Jeremiah that before Jeremiah was even conceived, He had consecrated him as His prophet. In other words, Jeremiah was born with everything he needed to be the prophet God wanted him to be.

But Jeremiah didn’t see that. As soon as God called him, Jeremiah looked at how young he was and said that he was not capable of being a prophet. God then informed Jeremiah that he was not looking at this thing correctly.

Jeremiah may have had limitations and weaknesses. He may have been really young, but none of that mattered. God had called him to this work and God would give him everything Jeremiah needed to accomplish the work, including the right words at the right time for the right people.

I see a clear message to me in this. When I look at my life, my weaknesses and limitations are glaring to me, but as with Jeremiah, none of that matters! God created me, and put me on this earth at this time, with my family, in this country, with all my strengths and weaknesses. He has made me His man, in His place, at His time, to do His will. That means that whatever God puts in my life that He wants to accomplish, He will more than adequately supply all that I need to do it! And many times, He will not use our strengths or talents to accomplish His work. He didn’t with Jeremiah, and He didn’t with Moses.

The beauty of God doing through us things that we don’t have the gifts, talents, or inclination to do is that HE GETS THE GLORY, not us.

Has God called you to do something and your first response is “NO WAY”?

You had better rethink that. It just might be the very thing you were born for and that will bring God the greatest glory.
