Thoughts on the Kingdom of god – part 2 “Jesus said to him, ‘On the other hand, it is written, “You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.”’” Matthew 4:7 The devil has now taken the King to the highest corner of the temple in Jerusalem. That is a spot where everyone can see Him. At this point Satan quotes scriptures to show that God has promised to always protect Jesus. Satan is trying to get Jesus to do something sensational to get public attention and a massive following without going to the cross. If Jesus jumped off, He would be forcing God to do Jesus’ will. The issue again is whose will is the most important? Satan’s implied lie is that Jesus’ will is more important than the Father’s will. Jesus gave an answer that showed that in the Kingdom, God’s will is not to be ... Read More about Thoughts on the Kingdom of God – part 2
Thoughts on the Kingdom of God -part 1
Thoughts on the Kingdom of God – Part 1 Mathew 4: 2 – 4 “And after He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He then became hungry. And the tempter came and said to Him, ‘If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.’ But He answered and said, ‘It is written, man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’” Here the King is showing by example how life on this earth is to be lived in the Kingdom. Notice that Satan is free to attack those in the Kingdom. In this instance Satan is tempting our King to do Jesus’ own will rather than wait on God’s will. The act of turning stones into bread, which Jesus could have easily done, was not evil in itself. (Later Jesus creates bread to feed two separate crowds of people.) The ... The Value of Truth
In the mid 1700’s, during the French and Indian war, a young Colonial militia officer was sent by the British army with a message to a French fort a number of miles away. He was to go on foot, under a flag of truce, and he was to go alone. His message to the French was not his real mission. While he was there waiting for the French commander to reply, the young American was to learn all he could about the strength of the fort and the French troops inside. This information was critical for the British to properly prepare their own plans, and time was of the essence. It was a cold winter day in the northeast part of this country when the young officer left the French fort with his valuable report. He trudged across snow-covered meadows and through thick woods. He had many hard miles to ... Read More about The Value of Truth
Greetings to All
As I begin this new adventure in blogging I have to admit that I'm a bit overwhelmed by it all. I'm excited to see what the Lord will do with it and I'm trusting Him to supply what we need to be encouraged and to grow in Him. God is doing some amazing things around the world and has revealed Himself in many surprising ways in our own lives and daily experiences. I hope to draw our attention to some of those revelations of the Maker in this blog as well as just have some fun. Blessings, Alan Harris ... Read More about Greetings to All

The Human Heart, Heaven’s Harp
When I was a little girl growing up in Kansas, my grandparents had the inner workings of an old piano leaning against the inside of their garage. It no longer had any earthly value, of course, but at the time of its incarceration in the garage, I suppose someone had hopes of it being revived to playable condition. At least they had been loathe to dispense with something that could potentially have value if it were in the right hands. Naturally we grandchildren, in the course of our play, would occasionally stand in the garage and pluck the strings of the old piano, usually all at the same time. You can imagine the squabbles that arose over who first needed to stop playing their “music,” and I use that term loosely, so that the child who had taken command could play his or her melody ...
